Your work may be messy and you may require a lot of desktop space, or you may not be so well organized or maybe there's more than one person using your PC. Whatever the case, Dexpot is a multi desktop tool, ideal for any of these situations.

If this caught your attention, there's only a 3.84 package to be downloaded. Installing the program is a straightforward process and there's no need to restart your computer or anything.

There's no interface to start with, but there are a few rich option panels to go through. The first thing to do is launch the program. You won't notice anything different until you right click the program's system tray icon. The menu that will pop up will give you access to all Dexpot's features.

The program's main settings window makes it very flexible. There are tons of settings you can make here. You can choose to have up to 20 parallel desktops, set hotkeys for various actions, activate additional plugins and a lot more. All these options are accessible via buttons on a navigation pane and certain categories are divided into tabs.

Furthermore, when you right click the system tray icon, right next to the Settings option, you can find a "configure desktops" option. Here you can manipulate every desktop from a single interface. The options include setting a background for each individual desktop, their resolution, screen saver and you can even password protect one or more desktops.

Switching from one desktop to another can be done in a number of ways. All with a right click on the tray icon. You can activate a desktop preview which is a small window divided in a few areas, each representing one of your desktops. Simply click one of them and you'll fly straight to that particular desktop. If the preview window is too much to have around, you can activate a desktop manager. This will bring up a group of icons, no larger than the ones found on the task bar. Each icon will take you to a different desktop. The manager will occupy less space, letting you use it for your more important things.

If there are lots of parallel desktops, it may be difficult do get to them via icons. That's why you can opt for a full screen view of all your desktops at once. From this view you only need to spot the one you're interested in and click it.

This isn't all you can do with Dexpot. There are lots and lots of other features you can use to bend the program to your will.

Pros

With so much stuff to do, it's clear that the program was designed to meet any kind of demand that most users can have. Another great thing is that the program is absolutely free for personal use. You only need to buy it for commercial use.

Cons

While it offers extra work space and more room to breath, Dexpot can be a resource hogger. Piled up windows and no room to maneuver can be a thing of the past. With Dexpot's multiple desktops, you can better organize your work.
